Just noticed you’ve already banded more than three times as many Juncos this year than last. Amazing! Hope you get some rain in the valley tonight to dampen things down–but no lightening.
I had to look him up in my Complete Audubon. I didn’t find it until I found out that it is also known as the Louisiana Tanager. Probably as it was discovered on the Lewis and Clark expedition through the Louisiana Purchase.
I also found out in another source that it is now in the Cardinal family.
